No, this is not a post about boy bands…

I just realized how arcade games are honing us for gambling. I mean, think about it. You put money into a machine, sometimes you win extra lives, when you lose your lives you have to put more money in so that you can ultimately get to the end goal. Of course, with arcade games there’s no winning any money or prize. Not like Boardwalk games. So really, boardwalk games are more like gambling. You spend your money (or your parents money) playing these games so you win these tickets and you can trade them in for prizes that basically cost less than the money you spent to begin with. So basically our entire lives we’ve been we’ve been prepping our children to start gambling at a young age. Now with all these apps on our phones and games like that, we’re starting to see how things can be so addicting. Once you enter the casino, who’s to stop you from spending all your money on a game that you’re probably already spending money on if you’re buying extra lives on your app. Anyway that’s my bit for today.

Edit: some arcade games are like the aforementioned boardwalk games.

About Juli

I received my B.S. in Counseling and Human Services and a minor in Theology and Religious Studies and my M.A. in Organizational Leadership in Higher Education. Through a strange twist of fate, I ended up in the Human Resources field and at a company that I really love. I'm not much of a writer because I tend to write how I talk and when I tell stories I tend to ramble and tell way too many details. I love writing though because it's fun to get all my thoughts down. I also love drawing, I love photos, and anything artistic really.
